Pro Bono Work
Kathleen Carlsson served for
three years as a
member of the New York State Bar Association's Special Committee on
Animal law, and for several years was a member of the New York City Bar
Association Committee on Issues Pertaining to Animals.
She is now serving as a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association
Animal Law Committee. She
was the chairman and moderator of the Suffolk County Bar
Association's first program on animal law, held in March of 2005.
It covered humane education, Katrina rescue operations, animal
cruelty, pet trusts, leash laws, dog-on-dog attacks, the Animal
Welfare Act and dolphin law. She
has written on the subject of Biblical law as an influence on
attitudes towards animals.
Her
main focus in animal law is the modern factory farming system.
